Trail 11

Windrock

Note: This is a horseshoe shaped trail, you can run it either direction. Going up the rock gardens is probably the more challenging route ( start from the trail entrance furthest from Hwy 116)

Trail 11 at Windrock Park is a beloved route that showcases the essence of the park's past, present, and future. It encircles Pilot Mountain, offering glimpses of its diverse wildlife, miniature waterfalls, and excellent riding terrain. The trail begins at the northern end of G1, intersecting with Highway 116, making it easily accessible for those coming directly from paved roads.

The journey starts with narrow dirt paths winding around washouts caused by mountain runoff, creating a jungle-like atmosphere. These paths then give way to small rock gardens that provide numerous lines for technical, yet manageable, crawls. This part of the trail is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of a challenge without risking vehicle damage. Additionally, there are smooth sections where you can enjoy a more relaxed ride while avoiding large pools of mud and water.

Further along, you'll encounter a particularly washed-out section that will test your vehicle's approach and departure angles. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, often seen basking in the sunlight on coal beds from the area's mining history. Trail 11 is a diverse and engaging route that offers both technical challenges and scenic beauty.
